Our Story
From Tradition to a Beautiful Connection
In the realm of arranged marriages, where tradition has been the guiding force for generations, destiny intervened to create a love story that transcended boundaries and touched the depths of our souls. As two individuals who were brought up in a modern, GenZ environment, with experiences of studying abroad and a desire to explore the mysteries hidden within Schrödinger’s cat box, we embarked on a journey to find a connection that would shape the rest of our lives.
Our paths converged during a time of great adversity, as the world grappled with the challenges brought forth by the pandemic. Aseem faced the trials and tribulations of managing his business, while I, devastated by the loss of my younger brother Hardik to COVID-19, navigated the turbulent waves of grief. In the midst of these hardships, both of us individually contemplated the idea of embracing the arranged marriage setup—a notion that seemed foreign and unfamiliar to us yet held the promise of discovering a partner with whom we could find solace and understanding.
However, the journey towards this realization was far from easy. Sitting with our families, engaging in small talk, and conforming to the customs of the arranged marriage process felt like a daunting task. I questioned the efficacy of this age-old practice and pondered how one could truly determine compatibility within its confines. Yet, when we finally met, it was as if the universe had conspired to bring us together. There was an instant sense of belonging, a connection that transcended the superficial and delved into the realm of profound understanding. I could envision a future where we could be not only partners but also best friends, supporting and cherishing each other through the ups and downs of life. In him, I saw glimpses of my beloved brother, with shared habits and mannerisms that brought a sense of familiarity and comfort in the face of my loss. In him, I found a companion who understood my pain and offered solace in the depths of my grief.
In the early days of our courtship, I found myself puzzled by his quiet nature—a stark contrast to my own outgoing and extroverted personality. Yet, every morning, like clockwork, a message would arrive at 5:30 a.m., bridging the gap between our different worlds. He, a teetotaler, and I, a party animal; he, disciplined, and I, a free spirit. We seemed like two puzzle pieces from entirely different sets, destined to never fit together. However, as time went on, I came to understand the depth and richness of his character. Behind his reserved demeanor was a man any woman would be fortunate to have by her side. Today, we stand as best friends, complementing and balancing each other’s strengths and weaknesses, weaving a tapestry of love and understanding.
Our wedding journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. My in-laws welcomed me with open arms and hearts overflowing with warmth. I couldn’t have asked for a more loving and accepting second set of parents. They embraced me as their own, filling the void left by the loss of my brother, and together, we have created a new sense of belonging and family.
In a world where love stories are often defined by chance encounters or whirlwind romances, ours stands as a testament to the beauty and depth that can be found in the traditional arranged marriage setup. It is a tale of overcoming doubts and embracing the unknown, leading us to a connection that goes beyond cultural norms and societal expectations. We are forever grateful for the unexpected twists and turns that brought us together, allowing us to embark on a journey filled with love, companionship, and shared dreams.
May our story serve as a reminder that love knows no boundaries and that true connections can blossom in the most unexpected places. We stand here today, united in love, friendship, and mutual understanding, ready to embark on a lifetime of adventures together.
With love and gratitude,
Kashish and Aseem
